The warm wind whispers in my ear
and now I know the magical moment is here.
My thoughts turn to dust and sprinkle out of my eyes,
flying upwards to the clear night sky.
The dust hangs high above for only a moment,
then turns into my beautiful bestowment.
What a breathtaking sight to see,
two lonely clouds in the cosmos staring back at me.
They take the form of two silhouettes,
one looks filled with hope, the other regret.
It seems as though they once knew each other, like they have met before,
but one of them could not stop the other from walking out the door.
Nevertheless, the cloud on the left reaches out its hand
and the cloud on the right knows this is the plan.
Their hands meet and brightly glow against the ink-black sky,
making the stars come out of hiding because they know this moment is about to intensify.
I hear the wind make a sound that is not quite a song,
but the clouds do not care and start to dance along.
They sway and they spin,
and I can tell their big smiles are coming from deep within.
It fills me with joy to watch this heartwarming cosmic connection,
but the wind’s singing turns into an ear-aching screech that I know comes with a lesson.
The clouds jump apart, startled by the sound,
and then the wind starts to carry them towards the ground.
Their smiles are gone and not a single dance move is in sight,
but they reach for each other, putting up a fight.
They stretch out their hands and try to pull close,
too bad for them, they are too slow.
I watch as the silhouettes turn back to dust
but the wind makes it clear that this is a must.
Such a sad sight to see, two entities meeting in the dead of night
but never finding out what they were meant to be.
I turn my eyes towards the appearing moon to see if she thinks the same
and when a tear rolls down her cheek, I know she feels my pain.
I glance back to where the clouds once were,
stars are now taking their place and making my vision blur.
This night ends with me telling the moon how I feel about the cruel cosmic spell,
for the moon does not mind when I have something to share and no one else to tell.
