With Christmas just around the corner, one of my favourite Christmas Eve traditions my family and I do every year is go visit the Lamberts Lights house! It's a fun tradition that includes my family and wearing our comfy Christmas pjs, hopping in the car, and driving to the house. I figured that because the house is so cool with all of its lights, and because they raise money for a good cause, I would share it to let others know.
Lamberts Lights is a program that raises money for the Georgetown Hospital, through the view of an amazing Christmas light show. The family uses a highly advanced electrical system to link the Christmas lights with the music they play with it. The cool thing about it is that the music is played on a certain radio channel that you can access right from your car. You get in line inside your car, and slowly move up the line waiting for your turn. Once you get to the front, you can stay and watch the whole production which consists of about 5 or 6 songs. The radio channel playing the music also has a talking portion, which consists of the family explaining how it works, what hours they are open, how much work and effort they put in, and more!
Last year, the Lamberts house raised over $7,000 for the Georgetown Hospital, and over the last 6 years, have raised over $80,000! Right outside of their lawn, there is a donation box that you can go and walk up to and donate money for the Hospital. For the amount of work, and effort the family puts in every year, I definitely think it is worth it to donate!
The house consists of over 50,000 lights, over 49,000 LED’s, and over 1,000 mini lights! All of these lights are controlled by 230 separate channels, and consist of over 3,100 feet of power chords used. The lights are controlled by a program called Light-O-Rama.
By visiting the website https://www.lambertslights.com/ you can find out more about the house, the hours of operation and which channel to tune into! There is also an online donation tab, if you don't feel like getting out in the cold, and a FAQ section if you have any questions!
Merry Christmas, and enjoy the show!
